SRSD Swim-A-Thon
Sideburn Run Shark Families,
The first week of practice is complete and the regular season is just a few short weeks away. As you may know, the Sideburn Run Swim & Dive (SRSD) Team is a self-funded entity and must pay for its own needs. The team is in need of several costly items like new backstroke flags, new lane lines, and the resurfacing of the diving boards. Also, the SRRA Board of Directors, the SRSD Team, along with the Lauderdale family, wish to establish a scholarship in memory of Brendan Lauderdale.
In order to accomplish these goals, we need to establish a new fundraiser. The SRRA Board of Directors along with the Swim & Dive Reps have decided to host a Swim-A-Thon. The Swim-A-Thon will take place on Sunday, June 24, beginning at 10:00 AM and continuing throughout the day. If you cannot make June 24, a makeup event will be held on the morning of July 8. This is not mandatory but we are asking all families to please consider participating in this important fundraiser.
Attached is our Swim-A-Thon fundraiser packet. Please take a moment to read this document and decide if you can help us reach our goal of $11,000. Some may think that is an ostentatious goal but our needs are costly. Resurfacing of diving boards can run $2K per board and lane lines can cost $750+ per 25M line. Finally, we would like to seed $3,000 into a memorial scholarship in memory of a good swimmer and a great young man, Brendan Lauderdale. Any leftover money will be used in the coming years to keep our SRSD registration costs at our current rates.
We only need to raise $200 per family to reach our goal. Please consider helping us reach our goal.
If you have any questions about this, feel free to reach out to your SRSD Team representatives.
Respectfully,
Nicki Miller, Swim Team Rep
Jim McHugh, Dive Team Rep
