Thank you to all who were able to attend the parents meeting this evening. For those of you who were not able to attend, I wanted to make sure that you are informed and prepared for the coming dive season. I will provide you with the highlights of the meeting.

  • 7/24 - @ Mansion House
  • 6/24 - Starburst Meet vs. Dunn Loring @ 8:00 (Freshmen & Juniors only)
  • 7/5 - Possible 2nd Starburst Meet
• Vacations - please let me know if you will be out of town for any of the meets listed above.
• Big Sharks / Little Sharks - The Intermediate and Senior divers will be paired up with the Freshmen and Junior divers so they have a buddy to cheer them on and be another form of support throughout the season.
• Shark of the Week - Each week we will pick a Shark of the Week and post their picture and a little write-up on why they earned this recognition.
• Theme Nights - For each meet we will have a theme. Themes sometimes involve dressing up and several days notice will be given to prepare. I hope all will participate and make it fun and memorable.
• Volunteering - we need volunteers to run the meets. Please consider volunteering for these positions. A Signup Genius page will be created soon and a link will be forwarded.
  • Judges / Referees - training will be provided on Sunday @ 9:30. Even if you don't want to be a judge, I encourage all to attend so that you have a better understanding of the sport.
  • Table Workers - training will be provided on Sunday @ 9:30.
  • Shark Shack (Snack Bar) - This can be divided into shifts so that all can watch their child compete.
  • Setup / Breakdown
• Timing of Meets - All meets start promptly @ 6:00. You will need to be at Sideburn Run at 4:00 every Tuesday. For home meets we will be warming up. For away meets we will be traveling in a caravan to the site of the meet.
• Practices - Having 2 teenagers I know how hard it can be to get kids anywhere in the morning. Please be mindful of the practice times and make every effort to be on-time (early). Also, when at practice please have the children be respectful of the coaches and do their best while at practice.
• Team - We are a team and therefore I ask that all team members please stay until the end of the meet. We have some of the best divers in the country right here in NVSL Division 1 and you get to watch them for FREE. We also try to go out afterward for a snack and parents too get to relax and visit with one another.
• Sportsmanship - Winning the NVSL Division 1 Championship was great but I would rather win the Sportsmanship Award. Let's cheer for both teams and be the first to shake hands after competing.
• Have Fun! This is what summer dive is all about! I want your kids to remember the fun that they had years from now.
